Posterous is a gem of a site, best described as a kind of micro-blogging tool that allows users to send their post via email to the generic address firstname.lastname@example.org. You can set up your own account using your own email address so no faffing around with choosing a username that no-one else has and then to update content, you email your post. Posterous recognises the email address you have posted from as yours and voila, it’s up.
I first learned about this at a Marketing Now conference I attended recently and have seen it pop up in a few presentations and via some prominent social media ‘experts’. Check it out – especially if you haven’t started a blog yet but are toying with the idea. It doesn’t replace a fully fledged blog but I see the value and its place in the long long line of free social media tools available.
